Visual Identity

Packaging Design for Kenyan Brands

Packaging design decides whether a product is picked up. Brand Veneer Studio designs retail-ready packaging for Kenyan food, beverage, cosmetics and consumer brands — structure, artwork, labelling layout and print-ready dielines — in four to six weeks, from KES 90,000.

Scope

Exactly what this covers.

01

Structure and artwork

We work from your chosen substrate and converter's dieline, or specify a structure where the format is still open. Front-of-pack hierarchy is designed for shelf distance first: what reads at three metres, at one metre, and in the hand.

Artwork covers every panel — front, back, sides, base — with ingredient, nutrition and regulatory copy set legibly rather than squeezed in at the end.

02

Range logic and print readiness

Where a range exists, we design the variant system: what stays constant to hold the brand, what changes to distinguish a flavour or size. A range without that logic loses its block on shelf.

Files are supplied print-ready with correct bleed, spot and process colour separation, barcode placement and verification, and a supplied proof brief for your converter.

How it runs

The process, week by week.

01 · Week 1

Category and shelf audit

A shelf-level review of the Kenyan category — what the block looks like and where the gap sits.

02 · Weeks 2–3

Concepts

Two or three front-of-pack directions shown in a simulated shelf context at real scale.

03 · Weeks 4–5

Full artwork

All panels, range variants, regulatory copy layout and barcode integration.

04 · Week 6

Pre-press

Separations, dieline check, converter proof review and sign-off.

Why it matters

Packaging is the surface that exposes an incomplete identity fastest — it demands colour in Pantone, type at four point sizes and photography direction on day one. Clients who arrive through packaging most often continue into the visual identity pillar for exactly that reason.

Questions

Answered plainly.

Clear scope, no hidden assumptions. Open any question for the practical answer.

Do you handle regulatory labelling requirements?

We lay out mandatory information — ingredients, nutrition, net content, KEBS marks, barcodes — legibly and to spec, and we work with your compliance advisor or converter on the final wording. We are designers, not a certifying body.

Can you work with our existing converter?

Yes, and we prefer to. We take their dieline and print specification at the start and supply artwork prepared to their exact requirements.

How is a range of products priced?

The first SKU carries the design development; subsequent variants in the same family are priced as artwork adaptation, which is substantially lower.
